Bulltown Historic District


Bulltown Old Cabin.jpg (37984 bytes)A civil war fortification site, battleground and farm settings typical to the Appalachians at the turn-of-the-century are highlighted here. A mile-long interpretive trail leads visitors by remnants of union trenches, the restored Cunningham farm, a portion of the Weston-Gauley Bridge Turnpike, sites of a tannery, saltworks, the original Johnson and Fleming log cabins, The McCauley barn, St. Michael's Church, and the Bulltown Civil War battlefield. The Bulltown Historic Center, complete with costumed staff (in season), features artifacts from seven generations of Cunninghams which have resided in the area since the early 1800s, along with artifacts from the Battle of Bulltown.
