A civil war
fortification site, battleground and farm settings typical to the Appalachians at the
turn-of-the-century are highlighted here. A mile-long interpretive trail leads visitors by
remnants of union trenches, the restored Cunningham farm, a portion of the Weston-Gauley
Bridge Turnpike, sites of a tannery, saltworks, the original Johnson and Fleming log
cabins, The McCauley barn, St. Michael's Church, and the Bulltown Civil War battlefield.
The Bulltown Historic Center, complete with costumed staff (in season), features artifacts
from seven generations of Cunninghams which have resided in the area since the early
1800s, along with artifacts from the Battle of Bulltown.
